The oldies but goodies are still around and still a good deal at certain times. I specifically headed down to see the Tropicana where as Travel Agents we were informed that the rooms have all been remodeled so off I went to check it out.
We all know the Tropicana has been in Vegas for a very long time and I will say they did a really nice job on the rooms. Very open and airy and a nice tropical feel in white and orange. I loved the color scheme. Here is the best part, the rooms start at $59.00 a night during the week depending on time of year, so with that being said, it is probably the best deal in Vegas. The rooms were nice and spacious and tropical and even though it is a little further down the strip, it is still on the strip but the nice thing is the bus and shuttle service is available all over Vegas for a nominal price, so don't try to do the walk like I did... I was dead tired when I got back!
Another nice treat at the Tropicana was the Mob Experience which is the first and only interactive exhibit of its kind: a history of the mafia in Las Vegas as told by first-hand accounts, holographic display and original artifacts.
I had no idea what to expect, but it was very interesting and fun (especially the end).
The Las Vegas Mob Experience uses the latest in "interactive entertainment technology" to re-create the rise and fall of organized crime in Las Vegas. Featuring apparitions of famed gangsters, the Las Vegas Mob Experience promises a personalized and theatrical setting full of intrigue, mystery and suspense! Meet the "family members" of a number of the men and women who will be highlighted throughout the Experience, while seeing and hearing first-hand accounts of the stories that shaped Las Vegas decades ago. The Experience features over 1,000 authentic artifacts once belonging to the famous organized crime figures who helped create the Las Vegas we know today.
So when in Vegas, be sure to see this one. Very different!
